Farmer’s Sunday Finish Returns
The Farmers Insurance Open will return to its Thursday-Sunday format in 2026. The event runs from January 29 to February 1 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego. After three years of a Wednesday-Saturday schedule, the tournament will once again end on a Sunday.
Why the Schedule Changed
Since 2022, the Farmers Insurance Open ended on Saturday to avoid NFL conference championship games. In 2026, the tournament moves back to a Sunday finish because it falls between the AFC/NFC title games and the Super Bowl. This change eliminates the need for Jim Nantz to call the event remotely while covering the AFC Championship game.
2026 West Coast Swing Schedule
The PGA Tour’s West Coast Swing has been adjusted. After two Hawaii events, the schedule is:
The American Express: January 22-25
Farmers Insurance Open: January 29-February 1
WM Phoenix Open: February 5-8
AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am: February 12-15
Genesis Invitational: February 19-22
Pebble Beach moves two weeks later than in 2025.
A Better Experience for Fans and Players
Returning to a Sunday finish aligns the tournament with other PGA Tour events. Fans will enjoy a weekend final round, and the change may increase TV ratings, which declined under the midweek format.
Marty Gorsich, CEO of the Century Club of San Diego, shared his excitement:
“The Farmers Insurance Open is a timeless sports and lifestyle tradition unlike any other in San Diego. Our fans can always count on spending quality time with family or mingling with friends at Torrey Pines while enjoying some amazing golf set against spectacular Pacific Ocean views.”
Looking Ahead
The 2026 Farmers Insurance Open promises an exciting competition at Torrey Pines. With the return to a Sunday finish, the tournament blends tradition with an improved fan and player experience.
