Women’s Division
1st Place: Jasmine Leovao. Jasmine dominated the tournament with an impressive score of 135, nine under par. She demonstrated remarkable accuracy and strategy throughout the rounds. Jasmine’s consistent play and sharp focus allowed her to maintain a commanding lead, showcasing her exceptional skill and dedication. Competing alongside her sister, Janae, added an exciting family dynamic to the event, making her victory even more memorable.
2nd Place: Janae Leovao. Janae finished with a score of 142, putting together a solid performance that secured her the runner-up position. Her ability to stay composed under pressure and execute her game plan effectively contributed to her strong finish. The Leovao sisters’ impressive showing highlights their shared talent and passion for the game, making the Women’s Division a standout feature of the tournament.
Men’s Division
1st Place: Josiah Tong. Josiah finished with a score of seven under par 137. He won with a birdie in a playoff, showcasing exceptional putting and short game skills. This was Josiah’s first men’s championship, played after competing as a junior just days before in the Junior World Championship, where he came in 6th place. His seamless transition from junior to men’s competition highlighted his adaptability and maturity on the course. Josiah’s playoff victory was a testament to his mental toughness and ability to perform under pressure.
2nd Place: Steven Deustch. Steven also shot seven under and tied with Josiah for the lead, highlighted by a strong final round that kept him in contention. He was runner-up after the playoff. Steven’s consistent play and strategic approach were key factors in his impressive performance. His determination and skill were evident throughout the tournament, making the Men’s Division a closely contested battle until the very end.
Senior Division of the 2024 San Diego City Amateur
1st Place: Mark Miller. Mark excelled with a score of 142, combining experience and skill to secure the win. His performance in the Senior Division showcased his deep understanding of the game and his ability to manage the course effectively. 2nd Place: Jeff Thomas. Jeff followed closely with a score of 146, showing resilience and competitive spirit in his play.
